COLLECTION: Victorinox Classic Portugal National Flag 58mm

The Portuguese Republic is a nation-state in Europe located in the Iberian Peninsula next to Spain.  In the 15th and 16th century, during the Age of Discovery, Portugal became one of the world's major economic, political and military power with a well established naval force which allowed them to venture around the world.  At some point during that era, Portugal and Spain divided the world among themselves.

The flag of Portugal (bandeira de Portugal) is the national flag of the Portuguese Republic.  It is rectangular, 2:3 stripped bicolor - green and red, with the lesser coat of arms of Portugal - armillary sphere and national shield, centered over the color boundary.

This Victorinox Classic model was part of the original release of the National Flag series with a model no. of 0.6203.PT7.

COLLECTION: Victorinox Small Mountaineer 84mm (1960s)

This is the small counterpart of the 91mm Mountaineer.  This is one of the few 84mm models with metal saw/file tool.  The only other 84mm model (that I know of) with this tool is the Small Craftsman.

This particular model is from the 1960s, as evident on the bail that was in use until 1968.

This model has been in production as early as the 1950s, the photo below is from the 1950s catalog.  The model number is 235 kmaU has exactly the same tool set as the current Mountaineer.

More photos of the 84mm Small Mountaineer shows "Victoria" tang stamp at the back of the main blade, single-leaf spring scissors, clip point small blade, "PAT" can opener, five-fluted corkscrew and the solid awl.  It also has the aluminum tipped tweezers, sadly the toothpick has been lost and the back scale damaged.

COLLECTION: Wenger Commander 85mm

The Wenger Commander is an 85mm 2-layer SAK which as the same tool set as the Victorinox Sportsman.  It has the basic main blade, can opener, locking cap lifter, nail file/cleaner, corkscrew and reamer/awl.  

This will be a collector's item in the future.  Although you can still buy new ones, once the stock is depleted there are no more new ones being manufactured. Since Victorinox integrated  Wenger's knife operations into its own early 2013, it has released the new Delemont Collection which eliminated the duplication in the product lines.  The Commander does not have an equivalent Delemont collection model since a similar Victorinox model already exists.

The print: Reishauer is a gear grinding technology company that develops and manufactures gear manufacturing equipment.  The company was founded by Hans Jakob Daniker in 1788 in Zurich, Switzerland.  The company still exists and is a leading player in gear grinding technology today.

COLLECTION: Victorinox Electrician 84mm

My 84mm collection is growing.  This is the little brother of the Alox Electrician - the 84mm version.  It is very light and handy as well.  Victorinox has since discontinued this model which was previously distributed in Radio Shack shops in the US.

COLLECTION: Victorinox Golf Tool

The latest iteration of the Victorinox Golf Tool.  Introduced by Victorinox in 1999, it replaced the 91mm Golfer.  This is one of the SAK tools that Victorinox has in its lineup that is not within the normal 91mm frame.

This particular SAK has a medicine advertisement logo at the back for the Flonase steriod nasal spray medicine from GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals company.

COLLECTION: Victorinox Classic Mexico National Flag

The flag of Mexico (Spanish: Bandera de México) is a vertical tricolor of green, white, and red with the national coat of arms charged in the center of the white stripe.  

Red, white, and green are the colors of the national liberation army in Mexico. The central emblem is the Aztec pictogram for Tenochtitlan (now Mexico City), the center of the Aztec empire.  The coat of arms has had the same features throughout: an eagle, holding a serpent in its talon, is perched on top of a prickly pear cactus; the cactus is situated on a rock that rises above a lake. The coat of arms is derived from an Aztec legend that their gods told them to build a city where they spot an eagle on a nopal eating a serpent, which is now Mexico City.

COLLECTION: Victorinox Alox Classic SD 58mm

My first Victorinox Alox Classic SD in green! I'm liking the feel of alox. If only Victorinox can do one with an LED light and a retractable pen, I'll be a happy man!

I'll have to find a cheaper practice knife to test my Alox lite mod. 

This one is a keeper!
