COLLECTION: Victorinox Tinker Hoffritz 84mm (1970s)

The Victorinox Tinker in an 84mm frame from the 1970s (0.4602). This particular model has been in the Victorinox lineup since the 1960s. This particular SAK is from Hoffritz retailer that acted as a distributor for the Victorinox SAKs in the USA. It has the square-shanked Philips screwdriver that was introduced in the 1950s.

COLLECTION: Victorinox Classic Liechtenstein National Flag

I don't know all the countries in Europe but I know a few big ones.  I didn't know that Liechtenstein is a country though.

From the wikipedia page, Liechtenstein is the richest (by measure of GDP per capita) country in the world and the only country to lie entirely in the Alps. It is known as a principality as it is a constitutional monarchy headed by a prince. It is bordered by Switzerland to the west and south and by Austria to the east and north. Its area is just over 160 square kilometers (62 square miles), and it has an estimated population of 35,000. Its capital is Vaduz.

Liechtenstein follows a policy of neutrality and is one of the few countries in the world that maintains no military. It has a 125 employee-strong police force tasked to maintaining order within the country.

COLLECTION: Victorinox Gourmet 84mm (1980s)

The Victorinox Gourmet was one of the 84mm SAKs released during the 1980s with a part number 0.3000.  It is currently discontinued but can still be acquired second-hand.  It has three tools, the main blade, a small blade and corkscrew.  This is very similar to the Waiter model which is still currently in production. There is also an Economy version called the Barman (2.3000) which has the same tool set but different scale and shield.

SAK Deconstructed: Victorinox Tinker 91mm (Modern)

A quick look inside one of the most popular 91mm Victorinox model - the Tinker.  The Tinker tool set has been around since the back layer Philips screwdriver was introduced to the Victorinox line in the 1960s (Note: There was a Master Craftsman with back layer Philips screwdriver as early as the 1950s).

First layer after the scales have been removed.  The liner here has the indentations introduced to the modern models. I think this adds to the strength of the liners in those high stress points for the main blade pivot.

Second layer after the outer liner was removed. All standard configuration with the spacer for the small blade without the key ring attachment.  

Third layer is the inner liner with the small cut-out for the nail nick of the awl/reamer.

Fourth layer is the standard bottle opener, can opener and awl/reamer set.  This one has the key ring attachment point integrated into the back layer spring.

Last layer is the other outer liner with indentations as well for added strength.
